Dr. B’s Dentistry for Children All – Around Health
At Dr. B’s Dentistry for Children we believe that health is wealth. Whole health encompassed all levels of wellness, including, physical (including oral health), mental, emotional and spiritual. The interesting thing is that the elements of wellness are synergistic: Mental, emotional and spiritual health feed physical fortitude and vice versa.
One major component of emotional health is derived from family and close relationships. As it turns out, research is showing that healthy intrapersonal associations aid in both the production of “happy hormones” and the reduction of disease development. Did you know that women who have given birth live longer than those who have not (decreasing the risk of cancer and circulatory illness)? In fact, those people with large social networks out-live their antisocial peers at about the same rate as smokers vs. non-smokers. Teens who have close relationships with their parents are less likely to engage in high-risk sexual behavior. According to a study conducted by researchers at The University of Wisconsin-Madison, spending time talking to your mother can decrease stress hormones and increase oxytocin, (the chemical that makes us feel trust, bonding and love).
